Oil Filter change Mk2 any tips

Thinking of servicing the car this weekend, been reading someposts were peeps have changed the oil filter and the car refuses to start.

Any tips and words of advice as best to do this and things not to do, its a 88 16v filter rear of the car laft hand side

you mean the fuel filter??

oil filter is on the front of the engine block

yea, try not to get petrol in your eye like I did. Stinks like buggery!

I think I may change mine, was it difficult ? How much it cost ? Should I smoke while doing it ?  ;D

Can't see what it would hurt to have a fag while doing it. It's only petrol. Not like it's flammable or nothing.  ;) ;D
