DAMN ....
« on: 24 May 2006, 19:22 »
    I managed to very lightly kerb one of my 18" alloys... parked it close to the kerb on drivers side, so the guy next to me wouldn't hit my passenger door when he opened his door.   I forgot how close it was of course and turned the front drivers side wheel into the high kerb.  I have heard it is very difficult or very expensive or both to restore... anyone know of someone who could help sort it out?

Hi.

I Kerbed one of my 17's last week, also put a bit of a gash in the tyre.

It was really nasty looking. No one here really does refurb's, so i had to stump up for a new wheel and tyre.
Just short of 800 Euro's fitted

The 18's are around 600 Euro's plus VAT each (wheel only)!. So you'd better have deep pockets if you want to replace it!. I've had some experience with Refurbed wheels and they never look exactly the same as the original - unless you go to someone who really knows what they're doing.

If your near London try Lepsons theyre good. Other wise just stick a bit of polish on it and try not to look at it!

I can live with it as it is very very small - a 1 cm graze on the extreme outer edge.  What will the dealer say when it comes to part-exing it Doc?  Any idea?

Your dealer will probably drop your PX by 3 grand!!!  Give chips away a call and see what they can sort for you...  I've used these guys quite a bit and have been well impressed

Can anyone repair a diamond-cut laquered wheel properly? - not in my experience

As for the dealers PX mate they dont seem to give a Feck about the condition of the cars which anoys me as I allways keep my cars "right"
