Hi,
This my first post here - having introduced myself here:
http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=41164.0, so i hope this hasn't been discussed elsewhere already...
I picked up my wonderful Mk5 a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. However, I'm still struggling to find a comfortable position for the driver's seat. Am I really so weird that I don't suit it or have I missed something, I wonder?
To be more precise, it's the backrest that I have difficulty with. For one thing, the bolstering at the sides is so deep and the bolsters so close together and so rigid, that it's a very snug fit - and I'm not a particularly large man - so there's very little "wiggle room". But I think the main problem is support for the middle of my back, which seems to be lacking and is causing me backache. The lumbar adjustment is too low to help if I sit upright as I would prefer although if I slump down more, it starts to support my back but I'm not sure this slumped posture is that back-friendly either.
With so much adjustment of the seat and the steering wheel, you'd think i'd find a good position, but so far not.
Anyone else had difficulty? I didn't notice the problem on the car I test drove, which had the leather option - I'm wondering if those seats are a different shape?
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks
Alan
