whistling?

what can cause a loud whistling sound from a 16v gti engine? i have a 50mm inlet, 4 branch manifold and a pipercross induction box, other than that the engines standar as far as i know, the power steering belt is loose, but its not that, its coming from the other side as far as i can tell, it does it on idle as well as when driving around

alternator or water pump bearings?

I just go around the engine and squirt some oil near the bearings. Mine runs well quiet after doing that

i phoned jim(the seller) and it looks as tho someone who worked on the car for him may have stiched him up by useing sealant instead of a gasket on a part of his inlet manifold somewhere so when it gets hot it starts to whistle as air escapes, it seems to make sence as it didnt do it before that he said, so when i do the rocker cover gasket which is leaking ill do have a look at that too, shoucl have asked him before i posted this really..... i dont mind the noise really, its just really loud!!

fixed! one of the allen key bolts that hods the inlet manifold on was just sat up a ledge on the block,, put it back in and the whistle has gone!
