Golf 25th anniversary alloys
« on: 23 May 2006, 19:21 »
Hi

I'm new to the forum, Ive recently bought a 25th anniversary Gti but need to get my wheels refurbed (apparently typical!!!). Does anyone have any for sale? I'm not prepared to pay silly money but if you do have any that aren't badly damaged please get in touch. I'm in Grimsby but am prepared to travel.

Cheers Tom

What do you call silly money? If you want a decent set of these you will be paying big bucks

Good luck, mate.  I've resorted to getting mine in singles..... 1 down, 3 to go!

They fetch loads on ebay.  I've been watching them for ages.

I'm sure you could get yours replaced at VW if kicked up a fuss, but they'll only give you a set of silver ones in return, as they got fed up with the complaints about the chrome ones flaking/corroding etc.

ps Either that, or may be get someone to refurb them?  Should cost about £40 a rim.

Or if you've got a powder coaters nearby, see if they'll re-paint them for you?  A powder coater near me, shot blasts, paints & re-lacquers rims for £15 a corner.  You can't have OE colours, though - Only the shade of silver/gun metal/anthracite/black that they already use.

How gutting is this! A set came on ebay yessterday for three! I texted the guy immediately and asked him how much he wanted for the three wheels, three michelin pilot sports and 4 x centre caps. The text I got back nearly gave me a heart attack when he said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£100 yes thats right £100

I said i'd take them (obviously) but he said he was out of the office and couldn't do it until he got home! By the ime he got home at 7:00pm he had offers for over £250! They are now at £650!

GUTTED

ON the bright side the dealer has said that I should be able to get them replaced under warranty as they where replaced in July last year! So thats a bonus!!

Cheers for the advice!

Tom

www.lap-tab.co.uk /.com

they do an offer if you ask for a quote then book in within 2 days. i got quoted £50 a wheel for hi power silver finish on 17/235 oz super t's.

the BBS RC's are silly money, i bought one for £60 + £30 postage,. annd sold the same wheel a week later for £170 and bought 4 oz super t's with tyres.

they do look cool though.
