Changing front discs...

Hello,

Any words of wisdom/experience when it comes to changing front discs? My beloved has failed her MOT on disc ware and I was hoping to do the job myself. Looking at the trusty haynes manual it just a case of removing calipers and a CSK philips screw and off it comes, then fit new... Is this the case or is there any hub assembly action involved??

  My advice, make sure you've a nice fat spliff rolled for when you've finished... its a piece of p!ss

  ooh actually, have you got an impact driver? those screws tend to get quite stuck

 :smiley:I'll keep that in mind, though It might have to be an ice cold bottle of becks instead...
don't own an impact driver but I'm sure I can borrow one

If you don't own an impact driver, using an ordinary screwy and whacking the end with a hammer can work.

Once the screw is out the disc may be stuck to the hub due to 15 years of rust. Don't be afraid to give it a good old whack with the hammer to shift it.

Other than that it's a doddle.

You also have to remove the bit the calliper bolts too to remove the disk. Its only 2 more bolts. easy peasy.
