Camber angle

Well im gonna be changing my front shocks soon and the camber will need adjusting
My question is do i check it with the wheels on the ground or in the air ??

Check it with wheels on the ground, on a level surface.

I have guestimated the camber on my golf after changing the struts and not too happy with the handling now! Is there any way you can accuratly adjust the camber with out expensive equipment! I have tracking guages in my garage thats all!

Yes you can adjust the camber pretty accurately yourself, I've done it on three Mk2's now. There's quite a bit of trial and error involved with.... a straight edge (the same length as your wheel rim diameter), a 3ft spirit level, a couple of small G clamps, a measuring tape and a little 'trigonometry' I'm afraid. You must also have a surface which is level (side to side) to park the car on (a little slope front to back is not an issue). Come back if you want to know more.....

Just the once then?    Also, you must do the tracking after the camber, it can be done DIY but cheap enough to get sorted at your local tyre specialist..

cheap unless the phucktards burn through both CV boots and snap your steering rack in the process ( i'm not still angry about it ,honest)
