no rear brakes

i am having a bit of fun with my rear calipers at the mo. i brought a repair kit for them from a company called Bigg red on ebay the other week. i have taken the calipers off and given them to a mechanic friend of mine to recondition them. He has completely striped them and has just phoned me to tell me that all of the seals in the kit are too bloody big. Fan bloody tastic. I am currently with no vehicle and the wrong kit for my car. 

1. Does any body know whether the rear calipers changed on the mk11 at any point coz i thought they were the same all the way threw?

2. Has anyone else ever dealt with the company called Bigg red?

1.  The calipers did change on the 90spec model GTI's something to do with the handbrake cable location, allowing you to change them for the better later mk3 versions

I have just checked the ad for the kit and it says that it is to fit 88 - 91 models so in theory its right.

im stumped.

hmm, get some mk3 rear calipers and 90s handbrake cables, that will last you better than reconned mk2 calipers...

the mk3 calipers can still fail.

Maybe the guy sent you the wrong set of seals. measure them up and email him or something?

change the handbreak cables while your at it. You'll be suprised

Yeah i have a new cable along with discs pads and bearing.

Am i right in saying that mk4 calipers fit aswell?

i heard you need braided hoses for mk4 calipers to fit but dont hold me to that.

better off with mk3's if you want to upgrade me thinks
