Changing the hall sender
« on: 08 December 2003, 10:38 »
well what a f**kin disaster that was

took the dizzy out to find it the pin at the rear couldnt be removed, therefore unable to change the hall sender, so broke the rotor arm to see if i could withdraw the dust shield that way, no can do!

the i find out the replacement rotor arm wont fit due to the fitment hole being far too small

the i realise in my moment of anger that one of the wires on the hall sender has broke.

then ring VAG to be told that you cant replace the hall sender as late 16v's used what can only be described as a sealed unit bosch dizzy.

so onto the ECP's for a new bosch dizzy and ?60 lighter plus no car for 2 days till it arrives.

talk about learning the hard way!!

plus it was meant to be getting the subframe welded today, and that put an end to that!

I had to have the hall sender replaced on my car 2 years ago. It cost ?32 plus VAT. It was a March 1992 16v - it doesn't get much 'later' than that so I wonder why VAG told you it couldn't be replaced. Regards, yt.
