Hi People

Despite changing the MAF sensor on my 2001 MK4 (1.9 TDI SE PD) and a VW ‘stealer’ changing the coolant temperature sensor, I am still getting a flat spot when reaching 2500-3000rpm in 3/4th gear.  The ‘stealer’ tried to say that I needed the MAF changing also until I pointed out that it had been done the week before (I bought and fitted the part myself).

Rather than take it back to the ‘stealerÂ’, who incidentally charged me £280 for a 70k service and changing the temp. sensor,  I was wondering if anyone had any advice/tips on what else I can check or what it can be before I am forced to throw more money at the ‘stealerÂ’.  Does anyone know of any ‘reasonableÂ’ and trustworthy independent VW specialists in the Birmingham/West Midlands area?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know too much bout the diesel engines but your best bet would be to have the codes read by someone with vagcom. Are you sure the new maf isnt at fault as i have seen some non bosch ones be faulty? there is also a oxygen sensor on the exhaust which can effect the running of the car. Have you checked around the engine with some tissue to check there are no leaks around the inlet/exhaust and turbo. hope you get it sorted.

Sorry, I don't know anything about diesels, either.  Whereabouts in the mids are you?

Autovolks on the A34 Shirley/Hall Green border (nextdoor to Solihull VW) are pretty good, if that's close enough?
