insurance for a 19yr old on a gti 8v
« on: 19 May 2006, 22:38 »
iv arranged to get my mk2 golf gti 8v on tuesday but i rung up for insurance today and norwich union said they couldnt insure me because im under 21. im only a named driver at the minute. iv rung around a few places and the cheapest was 1050 tpft. it was more expensive to be a named driver than go on my own.  what doesnt help is iv got a claim against me, iv got pass plus to try and make it cheaper and im 19. are there any insurers that will do third party cheaper because its only a £350 car

Long shot, but, have you tried it on a classic car policy, check out insurers advertising in the back of classic car mags, my mate insures his 83 Porky targa for about £400ish though he is a little older.. nothing to lose though!

Yo! I'm paying 830 tpf&t with Chris Knott. I'm 19, had my license 2 years now and 1 years no claims with no claims or convictions. Elephant were about 40 quid cheaper with the car standard, but the price i'm paying with chris knott is including mods like suspension, exhaust, filter, wheels and cosmetic stuff, so it worked out the cheapest.

is it just just me? but I thought £1050 tpft for a gti at 19 was good, a while back(1998) I was quoted by the aa I think for a D reg 1.3gl Astra at £2200 tpft
