Golf GTi Alarm not 'sounding'
« on: 19 May 2006, 19:34 »
Hi, i'm new to the forum having just purchased my GTi last week.

I wonder if anyone can help...I tried out my factory fitted alarm system last night by leaving a window open, setting the alarm and then after a minute setting off the internal ultrasonic sensors by putting my arm inside the car...

Unfortunately, all that happened was the hazard lights went off but no sound? Not much point it being there really then

I have checked the 'usual suspects' such as the door sensors etc (including boot) and all in order!

Anyone know why the actual alarm will go off but not sound? Is there a way to disable the sound? And does anyone have a clue where on earth the alarm is situated under the bonnet!?

Please help before I go insane with the thing!

might be able to turn it on/off with vagcom. check with the local dealers and squeeze the info out of them.
