Always declare mods though.....  :lipsrsealed:
Yeah.   It's annoying how something as simple (and not really risk-increasing) as an induction kit can make some insurers run away.  Most annoying.

If you put in any mods in the confused.com interface it returns a big list of 'Will not insure modified vehicles'.  What's the point in them asking then?

With ourselves you can have up to £1500 cosmetic modifications and 10bhp performance modifications without it even effecting your premium so an induction kit willl be no problems....

I think very few of the online insurers quote when you enter mods, as far as i am aware our website (www.hertsinsurance.com) is one of the first where you can get proper online quotes for modified cars!

I would say to anyone using our website site, it has only gone online in the last couple of days though so please excuse any errors (teething problems!) and if the price is not the best definatly let me know because not all our schemes quote online yet so i may still be able to help you!

 The 16v conversion on my Mk1 only added £92 to the premium  &  that included the 4-branch too (they already knew about the K&N) - no point not declaring if you ask me  :nerd:

P.S. Martin - I noticed my new policy shows "unspecified engine mods" does that mean I can gas flow it & stuff

just thought.....you said you have had a licence under 2yrs and it was a vr6? usually on cars like a VR6 you have to have a full licence over 2year which is why it probably didnt work, we may still be able to help but will need to contact you for some further info so we can refer it to our underwriters

Thats probably why it didnt quote!

Hi mate, that will refer to a modification that you mentioned which is not listed on our computer system (cant remember what it was now tho!) and Gas flowing etc would often be put down as this, at the moment we have the bhp as the standard figure for a 1.8 16v lump so you could do up to 10bhp without it changing the actual premium. You should really tell us when you do any modifications tho and unfortunatly they do normally charge an admin fee()!
