Leather Service Book Holder
« on: 15 May 2006, 14:07 »
Apparently 2005 Golf GTI's came with Leather GTI service booklet holders.  I have a 2006 model and have been told by VW Customer Service that 2006 models now come with the standard plastic wallet  (which mine has).  Does anyone with the 2006 Model have the leather version - it is a nice piece of kit judging by the photos I saw on UKMKIVS.net.

I placed my order last September & collected my GTI in March. Mine came in leather, but this may have been because I placed the order 6 months before! It looks okay, but it's only a service book!!

The leather document wallets are always greener on the other side..................................

Anyone got anywhere in having VW address the rusty hubs which stick out like a sore thumb through the large holes in the alloys?

I'd rather have non-rusty wheel hubs than the nice leather holder! I plan to ask VW to fix the rusty hubs under warranty when I take the car in for its first service, which I think will be a couple of months away (done 15K so far).

I can't imagine why they'd refuse to fix them, but of course they may see it differently. I know that when I had a Saab and had rusty wheel nuts, they changed them without any questions whatsoever.

I might put mine on Ebay, it's still got the protective plastic over the VW badge

Along with the bone china VW mug that I swagged

I thought all GTi-R32 models came with the leather holder and the other models in the range had plastic?  maybe your got swapped?   I'll speak to my dealer and find out.....

My dealer is claiming that they just received plastic folders for the last three GTIs they have had delivered to them.  Mine was registered on March 7 and has the plastic wallet.  I would be interested to hear what your dealer says.
