VAG software
« on: 05 December 2003, 11:36 »
Hi,

Has anyone bought this software or seen it in practise?  I know you can download the software on a sharware basis and it looks impressive.  I'm just worried that if I start tweeking with the diagnostics that I might knacker the car?

I've read a thread about activating the anti theft system on the car and that seems like a good idea to me.

Cheers,
Steve

Bought GTI T '99 last Thursday so new pics should be up soon.

havent got it yet waiting till after xmas as ive been a bit skint lately!!, ive had trouble trying to source a set of leads, as my new laptop dosnt have a serial port so ive got to have a different lead or and adapter, i think including the rosstech/vag com software disc with lead is from ?100-?200 depending on the leads, you wont knacker up your car as this only lets you tinker with electrical settings ie:alarms/immobilisers and a few other bits but it is a diagnostic sofrtware and you can monitor from all the sensors etc on your engine and read engine fault codes etc!! the software is not designed for the remapping etc of ecus so you cant actually mess up the running of the car!!

hopefully if i get me xmas bonus will get very soon!! ;D

I've bought the registered version and a cable. Connected succesfully to and A3 1.8T, Mk 3 Vr6 Highline and the reason I bought it a Skoda Fabia. The software is easy to use and enables you to read fault codes on your car as well as messing around with such things as change up points on tiptronic, ride height on the all road and Toureg. Basically the more gizmos your car has the better. If you had the Phaeton I'm sure it would be a blast. A lot of VW dealers use these in preference to their standard(10k plus) tools. Uwe Ross is also a very approachable ,knowledgeable guy. He very politely helped me through my skoda traumas(wrong component supplied by dealer despite chassis number and part number ???. I am in London if you fancy trying out the fully registered version email me.The only thing you shouldn't do is scan certain airbag modules which it is believed have a firmware problem.
