how wide can i go without rolling the arches?

ive got a mk2 golf, found a set of 15x9 and also a set of 15x8. firstly, i know its possible to stretch a set of 195 40 on an 8inch wide wheel but would i be able to stretch a set of 195 45 15 on a 9inch wheel, if not 8inch.

if so.....

would i be able to fit these with out rolling the arches. ive had the car just a few days so everything is standerd,

7J on a standard offset. Btw, anything over a 7.5 is going to require the arches to be rolled. 9s would possibly need them pulled aswell.

sorry to jib in on your thread but how wide are MK2 wheels as standard??

Depends on the wheel mate, I think standard 14" steels are 6J, most 15" alloys are 6.5J possibly that are standard on the Golf.

you'd have a proper stretch on those tyres with a 9" rim, mine are 8.5" and i have 195/50 which gives me a bit more to play with. all depends on the offset as well i ran mine as 7.5" for a while with et 38 and had minor scrubbage, but then my car is also 110mm lowered. a lower ofset will cause you grief if you want a low car as well.

so just to recap 7 inch ideally but 7.5 inch at a push!?
