it aint that either, all wheels are straight & true.

as i said - it comes and goes, and when it does appear, it only vibrates when the engine is under load!

bizarre, nowt quite sure what it is!

nope, its only started happening since the new rack went in, so its something to do with that - we just cant locate it!

Have all the subframe bolts been checked for tightness?

yep, its only after getting the captive nut on the driverside re-welded

thought this was the problem to begin with but the vibration is still there

My Mk2's doing that as well :S Scary stuff i put it down to the front wheels being out of balance/track :S

I'll get it checked out after xmas is over :)

its wear the wishbone rears bolts into.

just on this subframe problem, i've done a bit more research into it, mainly on clubgti and it turns out this is a common problem on mk2's.

ill give you some more info on monday when i get the car back. ive got a feeling this is what has been causing my knocking noise in the front of the car which i orginally thought was engine mounts

Gambit was the nocking noise like some sort of rattling noise because ive got a rattling noise and its made me think? :o

nah it was a noise u get coming on & off the gas, just like a thump

same sound u get with a knakered engine mount

I'm worried about this now since mine has done fumfty million miles!
has anyone got a picture of what we are talking about and where the problem occurs so I can check mine?
