Sports Mode+paddles = good
« on: 05 May 2006, 07:54 »
Just thought I'd let you all know the gti is run in now and I have taken it out for a run in sports mode using the paddle shift.

A couple of conclusions.

1) This car is quick
2) This car makes a lovely noise
3) DSG is THE best thing to have happened to gear boxes, lord only knows how it works this well. There must be some kind gearbox fairy in there to make it all work.
4) I am sure that quoted top speed can be exceeded!
5) This car is quick.

Roll on the R36
Gti 3 door DSG with 18's
Shogun SWB 3l V6
Passat 2.8V6

You sound like a very happy VW customer - Enjoy the beast until the R36 is available.

I've got a gti at the mo' test drove the R32 as well and even put a deposit down for the first black one in Dubai!

The stealer then cancelled my order with them because a local sheikh wanted my car

There is an up side to all of this though, these local guys buy cars use 'em for 3-4 months and then they turn up back at the dealers! So am keeping my eye out for the DBP R32 when is back at the dealers

So decided to go for the gti, i needed to get a new car pretty damn quick as my last company car's lease was up!

Ho Hum

Also we have a gti only race series here held at the new F1 circuit they had one of the cars in the showroom a couple of days ago. WOW!

Question -

Surely there`s no difference in modes if you`re using the paddles ?
I understood that the `sport` setting changed up only at the redline when in full auto mode.
Using the paddles in `manual` mode, you can redline and change when you like.
So what`s the point of using `sport` with the paddles?
