Gutted.

I had my car cleaned yesterday & the valeter told me that because I did not remove bird sh!t from the car (Only on there for 2 days), it has marked the roof of my car.
It has eaten through the paint work & damaged the lacquer.

I took it to VW yesterday afternoon & they claimed to have got rid of the mark. They used compound & buffed out the mark. It cost me £30 + VAT. However, when I collected it last night, the mark was still visable.

I have taken the car back this morning & they still have it!! Hopefully, they car get the mark removed & I will be happy.

Has anyone else had this problem? I understand bird sh!t is acidy & you should remove it asap. But what happens if you are away (Long weekend or holiday)? I cannot believe my car or any car's body work can be so badly affected in such a short time.

it happened to the g/fs mk5 she forgot to tell me and it was on the car for about 3-4 days and it has left a mark where it was i managed to get it looking nearly new but it still could do with a good buff

Nightmare fella, what the hell are these birds eating nowadays?

I've just had a real issue with the Box, i cleaned the crap off that had only been on there today and the mark it's left is horrendous

I've used my best cutting products and then put some goodness back in but it still looks crap

I've got exactly the same problem with a couple of bird crap marks. It was only on the car over the weekend, Cleaned it off when i noticed it Monday.

It feels like a small indentation in the lacquer, yours the same??

This is my first VW, non of my previous cars have suffered as badly with marks, despite me being really lazy and not cleaning them for weeks!.

I've tried Autoglym Paint Renovator and its no better.

Just have to live with it i suppose and be careful in future.

What colour is your car?? Mines Met. Black and its pretty visible on the bonnet

Never really had a problem myself - normally I take anything like that off straight away but on occasions it has remained as I haven't seen it and when taken off hasn't left any marks

Happened to me also on holiday in Croma last year.

Bloody seagull - I think that Bird sh1t is acidic, so no wonder probelms with highly polished surfaces !!!

Not happened to me yet.  But when I got my car I got the paint and upholstery protection.  Wasnt cheap but should stop thing like that happening to my new shiny GTI.

Hi everyone.

Good news. I collected my car last night from VW & they have managed to get the mark out & the body work is back to how it should look.

HarryR, my car is DBP & shows any marks like yours. I only collected my car in March & having spent a few pennies short of £26K, believe me it's gutting when you get any marks on your car.

I have been told by VW that no protection (Auto Glym etc) will protect the body work from bird sh!t. It will eat through anything & the longer on the paint work, the worse the mark becomes. My valeter has sent me details of a paint protection by Rhino & it seems the product will protect me against the harsh enviroment (UV, traffic film, acid rain and many airbourne contaminants). Oh and I will never need to wax the car again! Cartwell, I would check your protection products, especially against the birds.

Although it cost me £30 + VAT for VW to get rid of the mark, I think it's worth the money. It seems others have the same problem, so it maybe worth speaking to your own VW bodyshop & see if they can remove the marks from your own car.

Alternatively, wait for all the birds to get bird flu & the problems resolved!!

I returned to my car after a nice surf in newquay to find a seagul sat on my car staining out a huge poo - I asked it to get off (ok shouted at it to get the fuc& off) but it just ignored me so I punched the c^nt as hard as I could in its stupid fat gut, it flew away & i got some nasty looks from the coffin-dodgers bowling.  I washed the car about 2 hours later but it had already eaten the paint right down to the metal 


I think all birds should be shot dead on sight - what did they ever do for us anyway, I'm sure we could do without them.
