Overspeed Beeper
« on: 01 May 2006, 15:01 »
Hey all,

I am just about run in on the new gti now.....thank god. Time for a bit of DSG launch control mentioned eleswhere methinks.

I live in sunny Dubai where it is mandatory to have an overspeed beeper going off at 120kmh (this is in addtion to the MFD warning). On the off chance anyone know how to get rid of the bloody thing!

PS Top forum!!

Does it stay on?  I've set one on my wifes motor to 95 mph, and once you get 10% over that speed it stops.....

Maybe worth a try    :nerd:

How's the weather?  I had to work in Bahrain a few years back and promptly collapsed due to the heat

Yeah the bloody thing does stay on! It is exactly the same noise as when you leave an indicator on and take the keys out.

I am thinking it must mean an ECU reprogram

AS for the weather, starting to warm up a little for summer now got up to 42C yesterday, still got a couple of weeks or so before it gets to the usual summer temp of around 46/47. Still too hot tho'

What did your dealer say was the run in mileage? I asked the guy who delivered my car and he said that that was an old concept and that the car was good to go. He did say that I shoiuld try not to redline it too much in the first couple of thousand miles! I thought that redlining it was not a good idea at any time in the life of the car!!!
