hey all I am goin to purchase a golf 1.4 mk3 I just woundered what peoples views are on them because i dont no much about them but i like golfs alot

i had one before the GTi ... solid car, cheap insurance, slower than a snake on a pogo-stick.

cheers how fast r the 1.4's its all i can afford at the moment when i get more cash together i am goin to get a gti i think not sure which model mk2 or mk3 yet

Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

the money he saves could be put towards insurance  :-\ but wouldnt expect it to be much less than ?1500 if hes under 20

what group are golf gti mk2's?

mines costing me about 70 quid a year less than my nova turbo does, i think thats a bit daft really for a 1985 car

I reckon the guys are on to a good idea here, at least with a mk2 you will learn more about the mechanics, have a car that will cost you less to buy, and be driving something you wont get bored of within the first month. If you end up with a 1.4 mk3, you will always be wanting more power!
