RS4 Wheels anyone?
« on: 28 April 2006, 00:10 »
Hi everyone. It's my first post after being a lurker for a while. I just picked up my new T99 mk4 16v. Metalic black with a cream interior, It's genius. What i want to know though is how much would i get for the 18" RS4 wheels that are on it? I'd like to replace them with 16" gti wheels instead cos i fear they will get nicked round here! How much would i get a set of those for, anyone? (RS4 wheels are  a bit scuffed round the edges but in otherwise good condition with good tyres)

Thanks everyone.

Say bye bye

I seen some went on ebay for around £300... id stick with the rs4's! if you wanna buy the 16in GTI alloys they'll set you back around 300 for a nice set of alloys and treads... just make sure you insurance is up2 date if you live in a dodgy area

normally insurance companies charge about 10% of the premium for non standard wheels.  Mine charged an extra £50 and im only putting Santa monicas on but because they were not on the car originally from new they are considered an upgrade! So i just paid the difference not of the sake of them getting nicked but if I did have a major prang and they had to pay out a large some of cash they will try and weezle their way out on any technicality.

And ignorance is not bliss when it comes to insurance as it is your responsibiliy to to make sure the details are correct when agreeing to the policy, and if you try and argue that you did not know the current wheels on the car were not standard they would argue that if you were in doubt about answering the question you should have checked with the manufacturer.

Insurance companies suck.

However you can wangle it if your car got stolen and was never recovered then they would never know!

I always think its best to be on the safe side just incase I knocked over a cyclist and badly injured them and claims direct got onto the case they will try and bleed the insurance compoany for as much as possible and this is when the policy will be all important every dotted 'i' and 't' syndrome, for the sake of 10% its not worth worrying about.

I would keep the RS4's mate and put 2 sets of locking wheels nuts on them, if they are replicas then the people steeling them probably wont bother as reps arent that expensive new with tyres
