I'm currently going through the same dilema, I've got a single lamp grille on order with my local vag to keep with the oem thing. Gonna try it on and if I don't like it revert to the 4 lamp but probably one without the pinstripe as I'm trying to cut down on too many different colours.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

Spot on gambit the pinstripe looks great on a red motor but doesn't seem to work aswell on a dark coloured one, looks pretty good on white cars aswell.

Golfmk2boy you need to upload a pic of your car to somewhere like photobucket, once it's uploaded there will be a bit on the page which gives you the weblink for the pic, copy this address, then go to your forum profile on here and somewhere in there is the sig pic option and you need to post the link in there (it's in the 'forum profile information' area of profile edit). The key is to resize the pic to a sensible size before you upload it though.

I prefer single lamp personally  think it makes the front look really aggresive and wide imo

I've got a single-light grill off of a CL on mine at the mo, the one with the chrome VW badge and silver pin-stripe, needs a bit of a re-ferb (along with the car) but makes the car look proper rat-style!!

Although i have seen this mk1 Polo G40 and was thinkin of doing the same to my front, but using a wire mesh to cover the whole of the front where the grill would be:

Although I think on the oaky's a double light grill with the red stripe does look best IMO..

I think the quad grille makes it look quite rally style aggresive, and when you have all four lights and your fogs on if its a big bumper, it looks soo mean...
