Which headunit
« on: 24 April 2006, 22:44 »
I've been thinking about upgrading my head unit on my mk4 so i can wire up the sub and amp and an excuse to get rid of the cd changer. I've seen the pioneer deh-5800mp which is black with red and blue lillumination but its just a bit boring with its display. What have you got in your mk4's and what should i go for?

Also has anyone got some info on the D and G vw stereo double din thing, whats it like, how much can they be picked up for etc?

Thanks All
Adam

That pioneer looks pretty good. I know the becker mexico has a decent (my opinion) display and stats. Even the display colours match the golfs.

I recently used the following for speakers an amp. They was www.caraudioplus.co.uk and www.caraudiodirect.com the later helped with me some tech info and help installing so top stuff from them. Email support great too. Dont work for them just had a good recent experience with them as can be seen in a thread somewhere in the audio forum.

I was told to get some good front speakers amp them then amp a sub. And the sound is fantastic I have little hearing left but with so much stuff in braile who needs ears   but its all down to taste of music.

Also something I didnt know is you look at the rms rating as oposed to the watt rating of a speaker. I bought the alpine splp17's lovely speakers just for the front though.

But those websites have a big selection of stuff worth a look but maybe able to find stuff cheaper elsewhere.

Happy Hunting.

The VW stuff seems to expensive so thats already out the window. I can price match most the stuff at work so always get a good deal. Ive seen the pioneer deh-5800mp for £130 so i think il just go for it.

Surely, you've heard all the systems on display play at Halfords, then???

Alpine are the best for pure quality of sound, IMO.

Yeah i've heard em all a few times as i work there . Alpines do sound the best but i just dont think they suit the interior (man im fussy) and my last pioneer lasted 4 years so i know it will last and it sounds qutie good.
