pull down unit, SURELY not!!!

i have a crack in my pull down unit on my carb, i asked the expert guy on ebay about weather he has one i could buy cheaper than the 30 quid vw want to charge me, and hes sent me this

Pull down unit is £21.90 for a new one from VW.
It will require removal of the carburettor and removal of the choke assembly together with correct setting up for which you will require a set of allen keys. I will provide instruction if required.

why would the carb need to come off etc.... ive been told i need to bash out some pin and simply pull the old one out and replace with a new one,  whats all this allen key rubbish?

the carb is held in with allen keys maybe?

nope, thats not it, i cant think of anything that ide need allen keys for, im dead confused

when we fited mine we didn't take anything off, had to losen two screws to get unit in again... i'll take a pic haribo tom when im at work and put arrows on to show ya what we did! it's kinda obvious which way round the unit goes in... just look when you pull old one which way round up it goes...

even i could figure out where it was supposed to be, but it wouldn't quite go back in without losening a screw! but you may get it in without!  mine works wonders!!

you adjust the bit on the end off the pull doun unit with an allen key, and also the grub screw in the actual pull downy bit sticking out the back

I just adjusted the grub screw the same as the one I took off when I swapped the unit on my carby, worked fine.

if you get a brand new one I assume it might have to be set up this way, but a known working one from a scrapper should be fine I'd say.

i went outside i min ago and pushed and prodded at it and i don't think the crack is in a place that would cause it do work wrong, i mean it looks like it is but even if i pull the crack open more it still doesn't make any difference, so i think its OK, but if I'm in a scrappies sometime and by some miracle theres Mk2s around i will nab one
