The only reason I would not buy a Mk5 R32 is the 4-wheel drive - I have it on the G60 Syncro and had it on a Subaru and it isn';t as involving or fun as a FWD - and the voracious fuel consumption - I had a Mk3 VR6 which has basically the same engine as the R32 but smaller at 2.8L, and the VR6 drank fuel like it was a thirsty camel in the desert  :shocked:

Fuel econ seems cool - 22 mpg so far vs 24 mpg in GTi

only 24mpg :cry: you must be driving like a madman, am getting average of around 37mpg in gti :smiley:

I know what you mean about seeing them in the flesh, I keep driving past my local dealer to see if they have a demo car so i can go and sit in it, but i dnt think they do!.........how sad am I! ha ha!

37 mpg on the GTI sounds about right... Doc you had DSG transmission with yor GTI didn't you?  Are you sure it actually changed gears past 2nd?  :laugh

Doc, i am in love with the R32 and think your a very lucky chap you must of worked hard, there any jobs going for me where you work :laugh:.

i dunno what i prefer now the MK4 or MK5 R32 i think there both stunning beasts.
