Send your dealer back to his computer, I have the rubber mats in my car bought from VW. I just bought the front set, cost about £21
Mk 7.5 GTi Indium Grey with 19" Brescias

I don't like the idea of carpet mats to be honest. The ruber is much more durable and easier to clean.

Result for you!

When I was negotiating a deal for a 5 door GTi with DSG and quite a few options, I put into the equation:

OEM rubber mats
semi-rigid load liner for the boot
Jewelbrite/Diamond brite coating for exterior and interior

all free of charge and this was agreed.
Furthermore, we have also secured a first free service, as the dealer had to recode one of the keys (which took all of 1 hour to get there, recode and get back home).

Best of luck...
