fuel pressure
« on: 29 November 2003, 15:06 »

i che3cked the fuel pressure on my car today it went of the scale, ive been told that it should have been betwwen 5 and 7 bar mine went off the scale. we checked teh WUR and cold start valve both ok.

The car ahs been running a little lumpy when cold - and sometimes when warm there seems to be a flat spot under 3000rpm - which leads to lack of power. the mechanic checking the car said there seemed to be a problem on the return as when we loosened the return and let the pressure out the power seemed to come back for a while until the pressure built up again - is this the accumulator??? or something else.

I thought the return just went straight back to the tank unrestricted. Maybe you have a blockage.

The accumulator is in the supply side.

Where did you check the pressure , as the pump will put a guage off the scale if you put the supply into it as there is no pressure relief in the pump.
You say it has a wur, so I assume it is K jet, you need to check the pressure at the metering unit and the wur. There was a good link on K jet testing, so do a search or Rich will be along in a moment with it  ;).

we checked the fuel pressure on the metering head and the wur all was ok. i think he may have also tested the supply and that is when it went off the scale. he has been working for bmw for years so he knows what he is doing. im gonna check for blockages thios week hopefully. ill keep you posted. it is a kjet yes.
