Well I've jsut managed to get myself a flowed head! Only cost me £300, for the lot. Didn't think this was bad!
Ported by SP Peformance in the North East. Hopefully should go well!!

Gonna get some cams for it soon, but missus is giving me grief for spending our (MY) cash so these will have to wait a while!!

Anyone know if they are easy to fit, can I do it myself or should I take it to a garage? What should I pay for fitting?

I would get a garage to do it if your not clued up to doing it. Actually swopping the cam are very easy hard bit lining up the 2 cam marks level with each other and cyl head. Very easy to get it 1 notch out, As they move when tightening down the cams. Hard to see when in car that they are level.

so what else would i need?
Head gasket and head bolts?? Anything else?? and how much to get it iftted?

sorry to bump this thread, but I really need to know what ancilliaries I need to buy before I attemp to fit my new flowed head. I am also fitting a 42mm inlet manifold at same time.

What is the difference between the head gasket on GSF and the head gasket kit? What extra bits do you get? Any special tools I might need if I have to build the head up when I get it?

just a torque wrench for special tools :huh:

you better ask gsf about the kits, maybe the kit includes manifold or rocker cover gaskets as well? you might as well replace them all anyway.

hopefully you get good results as these heads are very cheap, i was looking at the ebay ad, they are selling a lot of them for loads of different cars

So you were the bugger that beat me to that auction! lol  :laugh: I too have ordered a head from SP Performance. The guy is a well known legend for head work and so far hasnt been beaten in design or work, and belive me some big names have tried! They are in Keilder in the Lakes. Peter tried to retire but is once again flowing heads. He's a top bloke, very friendly and knows his stuff!

My rebuild is gonna have a lightened and ballanced 2.0 bottom end and the SP head with a set of 268 degree schrick cams. Should be a little rocket when done! cant wait!
