wheels rubbing
« on: 16 April 2006, 17:17 »
ive just had golf mk3 gti lowered 40mm on koni ssk and it handles like an absolute dream ,plus i have 17's with 205-40-17 tyres,  however, if any body is in the back - even the lightest of people, the wheels will rub the trim slightly around the rear arches. this happens if i hit any bumps or dips in the road. this is proving to be a nightmare, and i assume could be quite dangerous? ive heard people talk about having the arches rolled, will this help? is it costly? what does this mean exactly and last of all where would i get it done? thanks

rolling the arches is when you bend the lip of the arch that's on the inside up into the wing giving you more clearance on the outer edge when running bigger wheels.

Demontweeks will do them for £35/corner, but 2 years ago when i had mine done their work wasn't very good at all. The bodyshop I took the car to to get that vented wing done did the last of my 4 arches and their work was A+

as for the inside edge it's hammer time!
