Tailgate wiper motor
« on: 16 April 2006, 13:12 »
Hi All.  I hope someone can help me here.  My rear wiper aint working properly, the water just dribbles out instead of spraying with any power, so yesterday i had a look at it and the waters been going into my electrics instead!
This is the part..

Can it be fixed or do i need a new part?  I noticed some weeks ago too that my interior light stays on permanent, ive posted a previous thread about this, can the electircs in my boot be releated the the interior light?

All help appreciated, the cheaper the better!

This seems to be a well known Golf problem, the washer pipe becomes loose or detached from the motor,  the water then pours down inside the hatch and the micro switch thats connected to the lock which operates the boot light gets wet and doesn't work properly.

Some more info here

My car has a recent bill in its history for this (before I bought it) the washer is fine now but the boot light didn't work, I sprayed the connector to the micro switch (inside the hatch) with contact cleaner and the switch workings and all is fine now.

If you disconnect the hose from the wiper motor and press the stalk to operate the screen wash - does no water come out? If so then you must either have a break in the hose somewhere or the water pump (usually attached to the water container) is not working, either that or the stalk control has a fault.
