Central Locking Problems on the petrol flap
« on: 13 April 2006, 18:30 »
Can anyone please help with the following issue ?
I have an unpredictable petrol flap that works on the cars central locking.
When the doors are unlocked the petrol flap stays locked & only releases when I add pressure to the flap & lock/unlock the doors.
Also, when turning corners the flap occasionally open & shuts resulting in an annoying clonking noise.
Any help would be much appreciated.

peel back the boot card/carpet on that side, and check the hose running to the mech is firmly connected and has no cracks or holes.

Next check the spring on the flap itself is present, if this is missing the flap will flop about as you describe:

only if the car has factory central locking, if its aftermarket then the flap & tailgate usually arn't wired up.
