Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Only had the 8v for a few days, i wanna sort some niggly faults.
1. Handbrake warning light always on. (Not switch ive checked).
2. No reading for oil temperature.
I think these might be related, as both have brown/yellow wires to them.

ahh. ok well the sender for the mfa oil temp is at the front of the engine it is one of the 2 ontop of the oil filter housing check it is connected. the handbrake i dunno about the switches are pretty simple and thats a simple circuit so its gotta be the swutch or its mounting point i reckon. give it a bit of time and someone will put a pic up for u, probably RJ

remember the oil temp doesn't show up till the oil gets over 50 degrees
As for the HB light, sounds like the wires have shorted together if the switch is defo ok (have you tried disconnecting both wires from it?)
I have a pdf copy of the MK2 Haynes and also the Bentley, plus several good wiring diagram PDFs
