Aye megasquirt is a live map, you can program your ECU to suit your driving etc, althought its more work than you would think, fuel rails, pumps, injectors etc all have to be changed too bit of a ballache tbh

The cheapest and most cost effective way to make any car much faster is to take a few lessons in driving properly and I'm not talking 3 point turns. Do a trackday that offers instruction and take it. Some of the quickest cars out there are performance wise the slowest but very very well pedaled.
Not everything you learn can be used on the road but a lot can.
And another cheapy? Empty the boot of all that cr*p!

That is true, and sound advice, Barkstar.
But Slick just wanted to know power mods that could theoretically be put on a 16v ke engine.

Yes I kind of realised I was going a little off thread but I was being sort of tongue in cheek, you've only got to watch a few trackdays to realise that all the boost, bytes and bigger bores ain't worth nowt if you thruppenny bit every corner. Always wondered how many Evo and Impeza drivers go home from a trackday with their manhood several times smaller than when they arrived having been whupped by a shopping trolley

I do love it when they get themselves embarassed by old golfs or 205s
Suspension/braking upgrades + driver upgrades
can give so much of a better effect than upping bhp

Wow, a spoiler like that makes the car look like its going at 200mph, even at standstill
*Please note, this is a virtual mod, and will never be physically on this car...although i may send it to Lax Flower as this would be right up their street...

Right arm out window (with Sovs on each finger), then with cap and leaning over wheel is good for 20bhp
