As far as I am aware the Clipper is a body kit made for the cab by the clipper company, it is noticable by the different grill it has on the car - mine is a clipper kit apparently - Karmenn designed the cab to begin with, so this is what people may be refering to
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

just to complete the notes, i think Karmann is a German stylist company, who did work for VW, Ford and a few others (maybe Porsche). they are comparable to Pininfarina and Bertone.

Thanks guys.

I though the Karmann might be a bit special or something. I know they are a German styling house.

I was wondering if they were worth more because they were made by Karmann (like the 205 gti which was actually made by Pinninfarina)

It jusr confuses me when people go on about their 'Karmann Convertible Golf' or there Clipper Convertible.

As far as im concerned ive got a Golf Cabrio and thats it.

If your grill is similar to a mk2 (see slims pic) then it has probably got a clipper kit on it, also has bigger bumpers, arches etc,...
If it has the old mk1 type grill, then its just a standard Cab - they are all Karmenn though - its like saying cab, cabriolet, convertible, soft top....... just different names for the same thing
