Top tip for finding obsolete VAG parts

I've been having a lot of trouble finding an accelerator cable for a Scirocco 16v - what hasn't helped is that with no original to go from i have no part number 

I just searched for a cable on ebay.com and found one located in America - the seller was thoughfull enough to quote the part number - 171-721-555T, i googled the part number and found a spainish site dedicated to Seats - guess what, the cable was listed as a part for a Seat Toledo    I'm off to find a seat dealership 

So if VW don't do the part you're after anymore it might be worth checking with another part of the VAG group

according to them there's no such thing as a scirocco 16v, my local stealer denied its existence too

I never thought i'd ever go to a vauxhall dealer, i certainly didn't think i'd be going there for parts for my golf

Ah yes very strange i know, the Seat dealers in my area are all WJKing who are also vauxhaull dealers, i've got to go to their parts warehouse which is in one of the Vauxhaull dealerships - I hope that doesn't mean the cable's going to snap before its time
