i have a j reg 1991 1600 driver, and the servo is bust. the mechanic recons the diaphragm is torn, or ruptured.

what are my options?

can it be mended? am i being daft getting a second hand one? wheres the best place to get new? at 204 quid i dont want to got to vw.

also, how easy is it to change? how long would a typical mechanic take?

any other advice would be great too.

Took me about 3 hours to replace mine.

Change your master cylinder first as thats the cheapest bit. If that doesnt work then change the servo.

I got mine from Euro parts for about £189

have a look at my crap 'how to' guide

iam 95% sure its a new servo that is needed. you can hear air esaping/sucking in whe the brake pedal is depressed, and the engine stalls when idling with the brake pedal down.
