Well folks, for the 3rd time in 4 weeks the dubs off the road again.
First it failed its MOT, Then when this was fixed the alternator went, Then after that there was the unfortunate accident while sombody was test driving it.
Then last night on a (Closed) Bypass i managed to get the Dub off the clock (have photo to prove it), Although speedos are in-accurate i managed to get the needle right past the 120 mark and back around until it couldnt go any further. Weee i thaught this is fun....
Then i stopped....No first gear, a few minites of grinding later i manage to find first, pull into a car park and let it cool down, phone kev for an on the phone diagnostic, Seems the Sync mech / clutch / gears have broken,
However all is not lost, Last night i managed to buy (from a family friend) a Mind, 4door, imperial blue Mk2 1.8 Driver with 82miles on the clock and one lady owner from new. Admitadly i have not seen the car, However a lot of friends have as a close friend of mine was going to buy it but couldnt afford the insurance.
The new car was driven to a friends last night where the front end was removed, The engine and gearbox has been taken from the car and stripped down to recieve a full service. Im dropping my car off later on tonight to have its engine, gear box and drive shafts dropped out and scrapped. the 1.8 driver engine will replace my nackered one, We will also be changing the engine mounts and a few other bits and bobs. My car should be back on the road by the weekend if all goes to plan.
The other great thing about this is i dont need to make a trip to the scrappy, Ill be taking a few items off the doner car such as window rubbers, a few interiour bits n bobs, door cards etc. The rest i will be breaking. I have also been told the car is sat on a set of immaculate P-slot Pirelli Wheels.
If anybody knows how much these P-slots are worth can they let me know? the entire conversions costing me £250 including buying the doner car, Servicing the new lump and labour so im looking to cover the costs by scrapping the Doner car. Also, If anybody needs any parts cheap let me know as Golfgti.co.uk owners will get first call before it all goes on E-bay. The bodyshell is in perfect condition appartently, with exception to a few carpark dings in the doors.
Woooo excited
