How fast is fast!?

Right I used to think my GTI was fast & my mates VR6 really fast but everythings been put into perspective!!! I drove the new 320 hp impreza yesturaday  which was fast & a Lamborghini Gallado  which was a joke 
I must say truly epic performance from the lambo couldnt tell you how fast i was going as I didnt really have time to look at the speedo but it was screaming in 5th gear so id imagine 160 ish!! great fun! & the brakes defied physics & gravity!!  you wouldnt believe how fast that thing could slow down!!! amazing experience!!!

It was a track day gift experience thingy by the way.

Try a bike then....Kawasaki ZX-10R, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Honda FireBlade, Yamaha R1. In fact anything over a 600cc sportsbike will smoke, and I mean utterly smoke, all those big, super-expensive cars. And none of the Japanese ones cost more than about £9000 new.
Raced a load of them on my 750 on the way back from Le Mans last year - nothing came close.
How about 0-60mph in about 2.8 secs. And 0-180mph in about 2o-odd seconds.

Puts it all into perspective.

Only downer is the rain, the cold, and the added issues if you do have an off. Worth it though.

lambos and ferraris are so over rated in the speed stakes.  look at the quarter mile figures..  not as fast as you'd think.   id go with the bike.  i have a fireblade and nothing can touch it except another bike of similar power.    they lack the handling of a good car but for out and out power.  gimme a 1ltr engine, a frame and two wheels and im happy

Trouble with big bikes - and big cars come to that - is it's too easy and the opportunities to push yourself (you're unlikely to push the car/bike) are so limited off a track and the consequences don't bear thinking about. I've driven some pretty hairy cars and bikes but get as much pleasure out of pushing myself and my car or bike. 
There isn't anything to compare with the OH MY GAWD!!!!! that you get from 120+bhp on a bike or 200+bhp in a car but its beaten day to day by hustling my Golf Driver along just about as quick as it will go, which is why I got a toot and a wave from an Impreza driver the other night after he followed me across country. He probably had to make no effort at all and I was a sweating wreck after 10 miles of wondering what the f**k was following me! That said what bar a jet fighter can match doing a sub 12sec 0 - 100 - 0 on a Triumph 900!!

I went out in my mates Evo 6 during the week...tuned to 300+bhp it was PHENOMINAL!  In my opinion too quick (as in if I had it I would either loose my license immediately or kill myself in it) but what a car!  My Vectra is 200bhp but this Evo was a different world all together!

There have been quite a few bikes vs cars encounters - and against pretty much everything the bikes will come out on top. Primarily because of the differences in acceleration. I have been at various tests where supercars have been whipped into the ground by bikes as the bike test riders hoick the bikes up onto the back wheel at 140mph just because they can. A fella I know murdered a Lambo Gallardo around a track on his MV when they were out on track together in Italy.

BUT...

If you compare F1 to MotoGP bikes, however, the situation is massively different because the F1 cars stomp all over the bikes because of the braking and cornering forces the F1 cars can produce. Ground effects aerodymamics, huge slick tyres (times four) and carbon brakes will murder a bike - even if the acceleration of an F1 car is still slightly slower than a MotoGP bike (about 250bhp and 145kg from a 990cc engine).
