Hi all,

picked up my new GTi yesterday afternoon and God it has been worth waiting for . The spec is as follows:

colour: shadow blue
gearbox: DSG
wheels: 18"
Doors: 5
extra's: Winter-pack , Cream leather, RCD500+, Phat-Noise system,Bi-Xenon headlights, dual climate control,
            Center-arm rest.

I have driven quite a few good cars but this has blown me totally away. The DSG is a must have as its sooooo
smooth in changing and the accelleration is also smooth and very progressive.

Can't wait to get out driving it again. Will post pics later ( too busy driving !!!!)

Good to hear your enjoying it!!

I like the sound of DSG but it seems a bit confusing to change into different modes etc!  :undecided:

Hi Matt55,

The Phat Noise system is a 20gb mp3 player system that is installed in the boot. It mimic's an external cd changer and in my case is connected to the RCD500+ system. So now I have the capability of 6*cd's and a 20gb music library to listen to.

It comprises of a removable cartridge and receiver in the boot. In order to transfer songs to it you remove the cartridge and insert it into a cradle ( also supplied) connected to your PC.

PhatNosise have their own program for transfering the mp3's across. Once all the mp3's are copied ,re-insert the cartridge back into the car. double tap the cd button on the head unit to access it. Instead of having a menu system you can select songs either by , artist, album, genre from the headunit buttons. The best part is that it reads the tags on the mp3 files and "SPEAKS" them out to you so you can keep your eyes on the rapidly approaching corner ;-))))))))). Admitidly it's a digitized voice but it's still impresses the onlookers.

So far I have none of the reported door rattle/buzzing or the squeaky steering.

Happy days

I picked mine up yesterday. (Black pearl 3dr, 17", man, center armrest, rcd 500)
iPod adapter gets fitted this week. ( It's the VW in the glovebox item.)

The car is fantastic, the sound system is much better than the one I test drove 12 months ago.  The rain sensing wipers and the auto side/headlights are superb features.  The electro mechanical steering is just amazing.  Build quality is perfect, no rattles (obviously it's early days).  I will run it solely on Shell Optimax (98ron) for the first few 1000 miles at least.

Roads are poor where I live so 17" is  a better option.  Ride is pretty firm, but I expect it will loosen up as the miles go by.

It's a fantastic drive, every journey is a treat for the senses.  Mr Clarkson got it right - get out of your 4x4 and into one of these.  Can't see it happening though.  Most people seem to be more impressed by either a BMW badge or something with 4 big wheels, regardless of actual on or off-road capabilities, running costs, practicality etc.  However, the Golf isn't exactly Mr Sensible either at Gp 17 insurance, £21,000 for a 3 dr hatchback, and a requirement for £1/litre petrol.  (Just trying to put forward a balanced argument!)

Mine was scheduled to be built last week - week 13 starting 17th March - so should be at the dealers by week 16 starting 17th April.  Only problem is I don't get paid until the end of the week after, so have an agonising wait of a week and a half until I get it.  I don't think an IOU note would suffice the stealer...
