Golf mk 2 1.8 16v
« on: 30 March 2006, 17:06 »
Hi all,
Can anybody help me with some mods for my gti.
I have just bought my first golf. It is standard at 139 bhp.
I was wondering what i could do in the way of some cheap mods to gain a few extra bhp.

Thank's for any response....
I am also  new to the forum so please be nice to me...lol..

For that you're probably looking at an aftermarket pipe and a k&n airfilter.
this will probably gain you a few horses. For any major power increases you really need to be looking at different cams, having the heads ported and changing the exhaust manifold to a 4-branch item. However all of these can be quite expensive. The kr engine isn't the cheapest to extract more power from.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

2ltr bottom end from a scrappy and rolling road setup should see best power m8... add a 4branch and twin exhaust cams and you should see 170bhp+

get a power reading on a rolling road forst to make sure you got a good base to start from. no point spending 500 notes to find at the end of the day your engine is all cock no balls. im sure its not but best get the basics (timing fuelling etc) spot on then mod it
