Had(and failed)my MOT today
« on: 27 March 2006, 21:52 »
Had the dreaded MOT today and the car failed miserably

Rear beam bushes, both sides.
Front brake disks scored!!!!!!!!
Steering column bushes insecure
Front suspension arm fecked!!
Front ball joint fecked(same side)
Both front sills corroded to excess!!!!?!!!?!!!!!?!!??!!!!??
Front wheel bearing fecked!!
And the obligatory, number plate light inop!!

That has to be the worst fail i have ever had on any car i have ever had!!!!!!!!!

Its the rusty sills that has pissed me off more than anything. It looks like someone has jacked the car up both sides with a trolley jack directly on the lip of the sills bending and splitting them in the process and causing the rot to set in   I'm so pissed off

Ive been quoted £150 for labour plus parts. Which actually doesn't seem bad when i read back all that needs doing but I've known manager and most of the lads at the garage for about 10 years so im getting a trade price on the labour but its still a shock to the system i can tell you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

arrhhhh the joys of owning a car !  If you spend less than £500 a year on the car, you've got a good one !
and that seems a cheap bill to me btw !!

Na, ive known these guys since way back when i was in the motor trade my self and Dave the manager actualy expected me to be doing all the work myself but sadly i dont have the time to do major stuff anymore with the job i now have. And i dont have a workshop to do the work anymore   If it was later in the year with longer/warmer nights i would have done most of the stuff but i cant grumble at the price anyway.

Yeah i know what you mean. The thought of being ripped off always gets to me big time but i was actually stood watching and chatting to the chap doing the test and he pointed out every fail to me as he found it(i felt sicker and sicker by the minuet )
