particular oil?

91 8v Digi

Gonna do a oil change - what is the opinion on oil? Which is best?

1. Synthetic/Semi Synthetic/Normal Oil

2. Any particular oil brands favoured?

3. Oil Additive - is it worth buying? Any Brand?

4. Finally, should I buy a VAG oil filter or eurocar parts oil filter?

Feedback would be much appreciated

I just buy castrol gtx for about a tenner. thats what most people seem to use, make sure you change your plugs and filter as well

Go for Quantum Synta silver or gold from VW, and a VW oil filter.

I bagged 4 gallons of Castrol RS 0w-40 for ?20 when I worked for a previous BP garage. Still getting though that ;D

Quantum Synta Silver - cheap as chips so you can change it regularly.

Watch the additives especially ones that claim to flush the system.  You can easily block the strainer on the oil pick up leading to oil starvation.  Not good !

I've had no probs with Euro Car Parts filters (think they are OE anyway)

A lot of stuff is cheap as chips from VW these days.

Oil Filter only costs ?3.84 inc vat from VAG Dealer :o

I asked how much chips cost at VAG dealer! Bloke looked at me and said "Lad, there is one on your shoulder"!!!!   LOL  ;D
