Best MPG from 1.8T?
« on: 27 March 2006, 08:46 »
I got 38.9mpg for my 30 min drive to work this morning :)   that was through a mix of town driving and 50mph lanes, and I was trying to get the best mpg.

I used to have a passat 1.8T - it had done 135,000 miles and the best I could do on a drive to work was 32mpg, I think the golfs lighter weight and an
engine that has only done 29,000 miles makes a fair bit of difference, the golf is chipped too!

I know most chat is about the quickest and fastest cars but it's fun (and hard!) to try driving to get the best mpg too!

Whats your best?

I remember trying for the 40 MPG once.  I just about got it, but that involved a little roll down a hill at the end, though!

It was very painful driving that slow, though..... I don't think I'll be trying that again!

On a nice steady run to work (about 20 mins country roads/A road mix), I get about 32-33 MPG. :nerd:

I've had it down to 11 MPG when i've been a bit late!

Went from newport to heathrow with my cruise set at 80mph, 1.5 hours each way and averaged 37.8mpg and that is the only time that I've been anywhere near that

I got my Golf GTi Turbo last week, and the guy even delivered it to me (80 miles) at no extra charge, bonus.

Anyway, he had tested the mpg on the way up (All dual carriageway) and got a VERY respectable 46 mpg.  I couldn't beleive it.  The way I drove it for the next couple hundred miles took that right down to 28 mind you, ;)
