Front Wheel ? Rear Wheel?

I always thought front engined rear wheel drive was best, any know how much work it would be to make a golf rear wheel drive, i heard of a escort rs turbo having it done

i seen a mk1 with a vr6 up front and a vr6 in the back all linked together so 4wd some years ago in a golf mag.

I love the sure-footedness of 4WD, you can just throw them around and they'll rarely bite back - I reckon you'll drive it faster just 'cos you can.
Front wheel is fun, and a lot easier to manage, it makes for a lazier drive and pulls you round the corners nicely, especially good when the back end slides out
But for a proper edge of the seat thrill, you got to go with rear wheel drive, it'll keep you on your toes - I used to get the back end snaking in the first 3 gears on my old BMW.

It's horses for courses at the end of the day. What we need is something with a totally selectable drive system F/R/4WD
how much fun could that be!! good project for the budding auto-engineers out there

Rear wheel drive is more fun when its icy and your in the works van getting it broadside.

Works Van is great fun, reverse it into the wall, and even the guv don't give a sh!t.

When I was in high school I had a 79 Chevy Camaro for a while. Big V8 engine, 4 speed, rear wheel drive. Burnouts are more fun in a rear wheel drive but I will take the handling of my Golf over that barge anytime. front wheel drive just powers through the turns better. I had an Eagle talon TSI for years that was all wheel drive though. Lot's of fun and stuck to the road like sh!t to a blanket.
