mk3 8v questions
« on: 26 March 2006, 15:58 »
just got me a CHEAP mk3 GTI

94 (L)
91k miles
FSH
All MOTs and receipts from new.

The car is a black 3 door. It runs pretty well mechanically wise. Has a few bit a pieces of rust (only on the drivers door and boot - nothing too bad), actual shell is mint all round. My questions are these:

1/ It as no ABS (i dont mean the light dont work, i mean it hasnt got any), the guy said this was an option on earlier cars, is this true?

2/ It has no airbags, once again, is this right?

3/ How can I tell what injection sys it has? i believe there is bosch and seimens?

4/ There is a minute hesistation if i floor it, between my foot going down and the injection system kicking in, is that correct or a bad sign?

The engine seems A1, no smoke, oil, etc etc.

I think for 860 quid i got a bargain, i am right in thinking this is cheap for an L reg with FSH (I may have gone overboard about the rust, it really isnt bad at all :)

can anyone help please with th q's ?

p.s. can anyone tell me what wheels these are?

94 could be 2E engine code with digifant or ADY with simos

I think your right about optional ABS and Airbags.

sounds like a good deal to me.

dunno. Simos was VW's own design i think , and i'd guess the didgfant was carried over form the mk2.

Digi was 10/91 - 9/94

simos was  10/94 - 4/99

they also used bosch but from what it says in haynes it seems to only be on the cabs

the wheels are early gti standard alloys but the centre caps are missing on yours
