Rear wiper problem
« on: 25 November 2003, 11:38 »
Hello everyone.
I'm new to the site and have had a search through the forum, but haven't been able to find an answer to our problem.

Our rear wiper has decided to stop doing a full "there and back" sweep, and instead only does just over half a sweep, leaving the blade stopped in a different place each time, and often right in the middle of the screen.
We have replaced the motor with one from a scrappy- no good, so put the original back.
We have replaced the relay- no  good, so got our money back and so put the original back.
Low budget as you can see!
 ??? ??? ???
Anyone got any ideas?

Mine was doing this and was parking in an upright position instead of layflat as I have changed it too.

What happens is the mechanism hasgone stiff and the motor throws the wiper up and just as the relay clicks and the motor should bring it down it gets stuck.

The relay cuts off before the wiper has swept so it parks itself.

Remove the clips on the bottom edge of the cover in the boot and you'll see the mechanism, operate it and lube it up with some WD40 or better still is motorcycle chain grease.

This should sort it out.
