The adaptor sleve is about 4cm long :)

I had the same issue with a MK1 Cabriolet......It had a "Second Sleeve" on the spline to fit a later style steering wheel.....I just went and bought a boss for a later golf....problem solved and much less stress :)

but now ive damaged the old one that's no good....

Could i cut this bit off or something as drastic as that..it doesnt look like its budging.

no reason why not, just go steady you don't want to bugger the column spline as well  :grin:

oh crap. have you tried heating the outer spline before you pull it off may give a bit and make it easier

nah you need naked flame like a welding torch or similar. dont burn your car tho. metal needs to be red hot.  bit dodgy but it works on stuck bolts
