Roof spoiler
« on: 22 March 2006, 22:02 »
I've been thinking about getting a roof spoiler for my mk4. Where can you get the originals from and at what sort of price? I have seen a company called tradecarpartsdirect.co.uk that sell on ebay and also paint the part you need. Has anyone used them before as £90 for a spoiler that is painted sounds pretty good.

I've been considering exactly the same - although I'm not sure how I'd fix the spolier to my car?
If anyone has words of advice it'd be appreciated!

Having had a look at vagparts.com a anni one costs £200  for a bit of plastic is crazy. On my mk3 i have bonded it on and seems to have been fine so id probably do the same just got to find one at a reasonable price.

£90 painted is V.cheap, beware of the quality I would.  As for mounting they have to be bonded on the MK4 too

I know what you mean but even if it was rubbish i havent lost out as badly as buying one from vagparts. I might try and contact OEM parts but all there prices seem to have gone up but then again i think they were limited stocks.

Out of interest, I had a GTI demonstrator a few years back and we used "bodyshop grade adhesive" to stick a spoiler on. Three days later at 90mph it sounded like someone was trying to punch their way through the roof as one side started to lift.

My advice - buy the best spoiler you can afford and get it fitted by a bodyshop used to fitting them. You're better off paying a bit more and having a good looking spoiler rather than having a cheaper bit of kit laying on the M25 somewhere.....
What's your best price for cash?

VWmaindealer i know what your saying but you want my money  by the way do you know what sort of price they are from your parts section? . My mk3 spoiler has been on for ages though and passed the test at over 90 i used the tigerseal (sikaflex stuff) and to anyone else id recommend it if the spoiler makes enough contact with the tailgate.
