Hello everyonme, could do wiv some help???
« on: 16 March 2006, 18:43 »
Hello everyone I'm new on the site. I'm from Somerset and I'm looking at buying a 2002 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.9 GTI TDI PD Anniversary. Now if anyone owns one I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Basically i would like to know how much servicing is? (Minor and Full)  I know the wheels are 18's but whats the best tyres to buy and how much are the tyres to buy?  Parts, are they expensive but being a anniversary are they more expensive? Now i have seen a few on autotrader but whats the normal price they go for-11k or more? i would be so grateful if u could fill in the blanks for me and more about the car as your the experts... Thanks

try posting in the 'cars wanted' section too :)

the best tyres is a matter of opinion. some people like brand A and some people hate brand A. There are places online to buy tyres, but you may find just popping along to a local tyre fitter is just as cost effective.

Parts are pretty much the same. the bodykit is different and there are some other small differences.

Standard model should cost around 9k from a dealer and 7.5k - 8k private.  Anni models to cost more due to the extras, which to be fair are only cosmetic.  There are plenty of specialist places around to get them repaired and serviced just dont use the main dealer or you will be ripped off.  Also that year will be close to if not coming to the end of the factory warranty so check that and if it has had any work done under warranty.
Parts can be expensive due to the fact that its still fairly new but places like GSF and Euro car parts have bits in at good prices.  There is always e-bay for bits.

Tyres will be expensive because they are 18's and there is no point putting crap tyres on a good car like that.

Good luck with finding one and use the internet to get as much info as poss as you will be spending a lot of cash on a car and it pays to get the right one in the first place.
